What Is Photodynamic Therapy?
Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) is a light-activated treatment used to target abnormal or precancerous skin cells, most commonly actinic keratoses. It offers a non-invasive option for managing sun-damaged or high-risk skin.
How We Treat It
At Vita Medical, PDT is performed under doctor supervision using a topical photosensitiser (5-ALA) followed by light activation with the K-Laser Blue Derma. This causes selective destruction of abnormal cells while sparing healthy surrounding tissue. PDT is especially useful for patients with multiple or widespread lesions, or those who wish to avoid surgery. It’s a well-tolerated, outpatient treatment with minimal downtime and is suitable for use on the face, scalp, chest, and hands.
